About our recording studio
The IMU-studio started in 1994 with a production called "Immortal Couplets" (Kuolemattomat kupletit) featuring Hannu Ilmolahti, Timo Alakotila and Mauno Järvelä.
We do anything connected to music production: recording, mixing, editing, mastering. We also design CD covers and take care of the CD duplication. Our speciality is music with kantele.
Since 1994 the studio equipment has changed two times drastically. We now have two Apple-based Pro Tools systems. One system is mobile and we start many projects somewhere in Finland (or Germany) and finish them here.
What hasn't changed is the building: an old school (made of wood) with two classrooms for recording, editing and mixing in a quiet, peaceful rural area close to Helsinki.
We have long time experience in traditional and contemporary folk music, chamber music and music for children. Our internationally most exposed work were the kantele parts for the Disney picture Narnia in 2006.
